Pitch Feedback

In this lesson I done the pitch for the Cd cover and Ad. As a part of the feedback I have understood the font is best if it is simple like the mock but made bolder so that is easier to see which will be taken into consideration when doing my final print product.
From the comments I have been able to deduct that the angle and pose from the mock up has been appealing to everyone and also suits the case studies that I have analysed. For the final print product I will want to copy this same pose as it also fits the conventions for a CD cover. I have taken under consideration that I wanted to have a studio shot as I said in the pitch but in the mock up I had a location shot. The image that I used for the mock up was take on the day of the video shoot which was done on the location. This was a part of the question that I asked the audience to be able to understand what would fit best for my audience. To conclude the feedback analysis I believe that I will choose to a studio shot for the cover and some location shot for the back of the CD as advised.

Pre Production : Story Board Pt 1

This was our first attempt at making our story board, we all talked about the general idea of shots that we wanted to have and how we wanted to use them. We also planned out what would be the best order for all the shots. Hamda drew the pictures and we annotated the images so that they were easier to understand.

Team Meeting

In this lesson we were explained what tasks we had to do for our Pre- Production. In my group we had to have a team meeting to be able to plan out what we will do to get the Pre- production finished. We discussed what we each of us wanted to do and we,
managed to divide tasks equally to be able to get it done by the end of the week.

Treatment Ideas

In my group with Leena and Hamda we decided to start brainstorming about all the ideas we had for our music video we all decided to start thinking about our case studies and the inspirations we had behind them. As we realised that we had different taste in music we all decided to put in our input of songs that we liked.
We spent this lesson looking for appropriate choices and came with a list of 5 ideas
  • Blem - Drake
  • Nothing is promised-  Rihanna x Mike Will Made It
  • Something New - Zendaya
  • Say it - Sevyn Streeter

Lip Synch Taster Part 2

In our group we used the song She Don't by Ella Mai, this was the first time we experimented with lip synching, filming and editing.

Strengths
- The editing for the video include a lost of quick cuts which is a feature of a many music video.
- The locations where used appropriately to the genre of the music that we chose

I think that our music video had high potential as the song that we chose was not complicated to incorporate the filming with the rhythm of the song. We were easily able to upload our clips onto Adobe Premiere and furthermore use the tools to be able to cut the clips.

Weaknesses
- Lack of clips
-Out of focus Clips
-Natural lighting not used to an advantage
-Out of synch with video

When editing the video we realised that we did not have enough clips that would be able to fit the 1 minute that we intended to do, this then lead to us not being able to finish the full video because some of the clips could not be used. In addition to this the clips were not as clear as they should have been because they were not in focus and as it was very sunny the lighting spoilt the images when the camera moved. The main difficulty we had was trying to match the music with the video lip synch.

I believe that when doing our actual music video we can improve or weaknesses by:
- Filming repeated shots
-Check that the camera is fully prepared to film (focus, white balance)

The lip synch taster Part 1

In todays lesson we filmed various shots of a 1 min extract of a song. The shots included a
  • Close Up
  • Mid shot
  • Long Shot
These shots will be cut together to the rate and rhythm of the song chosen which we will the evaluate.

DSLR Camera Induction

In this lesson we were bale to learn how to use the DSLR cameras for our music videos. We learnt how to use the filming mode, how to focus the lens, controlling white balance an how to change the shutter speed.
This was useful as I now believe that it will be easier to film and get the highest of quality clips.
